I would think Couture is not the answer for Mitchell's slot, and that a player like Zalewski or Plihali could find a fit here. For one, Couture is making over a million dollars - and there's just no room for that right now...unless there is a trade from the forward core. I also think that Mitchell's injury all but guarantee's that Friesen is going to be on the team. Another wrinkle to the already clouded roster situation in San Jose. From what I've been reading so far he can't be placed on LTIR unless he's out for way more than 8 weeks, and it is not possible to place an injured player in the AHL.
