The Sharks aren’t scoring a lot of goals, and have recently lost 5 of 7.  Is it time to be concerned?

  1. James says:

This team looked so much more dangerous when Hertl was on the top line. Who will replace him?

    • Ryan says:

If Hertl comes back to the top line, potential new lines could kick-start the offense.

      Hertl – Thornton – Pavelski
      Marleau – Couture – Labanc
      Boedker – Tierney – Ward
      Karlsson – Wingels – Meier

And if they want to add a player at the deadline, we could see Wingels traded and Carpenter take over 4th line center duties. But that’s risky with such a small sample size.

  2. Matty says:

Love the show guys. The dudes sort of buried the lead, which is that Sharks’ injuries have tested their depth with mixed results. Hertl, Couture, Vlasic, Schlemko, Donskoi have all missed multiple games. Tough to overcome. The Sharks are on pace to have only 4 20-goal scorers and yes, Marleau is one of them. Both Mike and Doug are right – good idea to resign him for cheap on a short-term deal, but unlikely he’d agree. Here’s another way of looking at it – who would you rather pay $4 mil to for the next 2 years: Boedker or Marleau? Before the season, I think everyone would have said Boedker. Now, it’s not so easy to decide.

  3. Nate says:

I think the Sharks should just permanently keep Marleau on a one-year seal, so he’s always in a contract year. Seems to always up his game with that extra incentive. Ryan, good call on the Wingels.
