The thought of Nabokov going to any Western contender frightens me deeply... until I think about that five hole!

Well, everyone knows how I feel. I'd have no problem with DW trading Demers and a guy like Ferriero/Wingels for Whitney and a 5th. Being able to have a guy like Whitney or Havlat on the 3rd line would match us up very well with the cream of the crop. We would basically have last years' scoring depth with this years' defense. I know the dudes don't like rentals, but I'm not sure the trades for Wallin, Huskins, etc. worked out too well even though we got to keep them for a bit after we traded for them midseason. Certainly, best case scenario is a waiver pickup like Wellwood, which cost nothing, but I don't see anything like that on the horizon.

As an aside, Nabokov has a .925 SV% and 2.21 GAA... would have to imagine a team like Ottawa or (GASP!) Chicago would love that kind of stability in net...

Here here. Appreciate the Podcasts guys!

David Pollack speculating the Sharks might acquire a top six forward...

AND Drew Remenda on the Marek vs. Wysnyski podcast saying he'd like to see the Sharks acquire Ray Whitney - also a top six forward....

Thoughts?

I don't post here very much, but I wanted to say thank you for bringing out a new podcast on Super Bowl Sunday so I can get some Hockey/Sharks talk on a Boring Sunday Night. With all the Super Bowl talk, I'm glad there is someone out in the world that have the same level of care for the Super Bowl/priorities that I have.

Thanks for the quality show every week guys.

Since getting Campbell only required a 2nd a Bernier, I would hope that selanne would not require a first. But I do agree that it would likely be Demers, a 2nd and a maybe goaltender prospect (one of the few teams that could probably use a goalie prospect as Hiller is a gamble with his issues). Considering how terrible Demers has been and how Braun has stepped in, Im not sure that is much of a loss.

Hey guys... I made this list for another chat room and I thought I'd share it here.

It's a list of third line players with at least 30 PO games and I ranked them by ppg in the playoffs. Some we've been discussing and some players haven't been discussed. But I tend to measure these players by several factors none less that how they perfor in the PO's.

Again this isn't to show anybody up but just to add to the discussion.

Bottom six forwards with 30+ PO games ranked by ppg.

Dave Bolland - 43g, 34 pts, 58 PIM (.79 ppg)

Brooks laich- 37g, 23pts, 20 PIM
(.62 ppg)

Maxine Talbot - 66g, 33 pts, 87 PIM (.50 ppg)

Rich Peverly - 31 g, 14 pts, 17 PIM (.45 ppg)

Michael Handzus - 73 g, 32 pts, 38 PIM (.44 ppg)

Raffi Torres - 53g, 22pts, 58PIM
(.42 ppg)

Jordan Staal - 67g, 27 pts, 32 PIM (.40 ppg)

Ruslan Fedetenko - 88 g, 33 pts, 58 PIM (.38 ppg)

Pascal Dupius - 76 g, 27 pts, 44 PIM (.36 ppg)

Mayson Raymond - 46g, 15 pts, 14 PIM (.33 ppg)

Eric Cole - 43 g, 14 pts, 52 PIM (.33 ppg)

Paul Gaustad - 30g, 8pts, 37 PIM
(.27 ppg)

Darren Helm - 57 g, 13 pts, 16 PIM (.23 ppg)

Maxim LapIerre - 60 g, 12 pts, 118 PIM (.20 ppg)

Mike Rupp - 43 g, 8 pts, 35 PIM
(.19 ppg)

Manny Malhotra - 30g, 2pts, 0 PIM (.07 ppg)

I'm surprised how good Handzus has been as how crapy Malhota has been.

Anyways, I'm interested in what people think about these players and who they think would fit on the Sharks.

asserting that the sharks are a second tier team sounds reasonable at the moment, but let's not be too quick to say this team cannot beat van or chi in the playoffs. After Boston's collapse to Philly, who would have given them a chance to roll the flyer the very next year en route to winning it all? Just saying; the playoffs are a different season where different strategies payoff more than the 82 game endurance format.
