I’m excited Patty is coming back. But if I was going to bring in an available veteran to really make a difference, it would be Justin Williams. He’s a far more productive player at this point in his career and a RW. Of course, you’d never get him for the low salary Patty is making. But where is Marleau going to play? I guess on the 3rd line? Does that mean Sorenson drops to the 4th, or perhaps plays his off wing on the 3rd? No matter what, having Patty back will inspire … at least for a few games. Still on the Sharks wish list: 1) top 6 RW 2) starting NHL goalie with a save % above .905
I know it’s unfair to blame the goalies when the whole team struggles. But no single move would help this team as much as getting a better goalie.
I agree. It’s not everything but it’s foundational. The way I feel about Martin Jones right now is this: he’s got what I call Nabokov disease. He lets in about one bad goal a night and is inconsistent in the playoffs with moments of brilliance.
At the end of the day that may be ok for a team hoping just to get in the playoffs but it’s impossible to go very deep with that happening most nights.

You’re 100% right dudes, Patrick Marleau is not the answer. I feel like this is a move to assuage the fan ire that is brewing. It’s like Doug Wilson doesn’t get we’re not stupid or something? This isn’t gonna fix any of this teams problems of make up or identity. Does anybody truly think this happens if the team went 3-0 instead of 0-3 to start the season? Doubtful.

Called the 0-4 start. Unless there is a huge change in goaltending, SJ will miss the playoffs. They no longer have the offense to cover below average goaltending.
Karlsson has been terrible. Turnovers. Outhustled. -8 after just 5 games.
“I’m not sure what Erik Karlsson is doing there.” Eddie O, lol. I think EK has looked worse than when he was injured. He was directly responsible for 2 of the Hawks goals. And Vlasic has also been awful. With this much money invested in the D the Sharks should be giving up 1-2 goals, not 4-6.
On a positive note, love that Patty is being welcomed back by the media. But actually, the number 1 star was, surprisingly, Dell. Can he repeat that performance?
