The Sharks’ goaltending is bad. Really bad. But there have been no consequences for either goalie, and the Dudes, along with the fans, are fed up.

While I’m actually not at all a fan of Tortorella as a coach. He’s a guy that will always play to the middle of the pack no matter who he has on his roster. BUT! What he will do, is get guys to want to waive NMC’s. If you want to trade players, bring in Torts and guys will be lining up to get the hell out that door.

  2. Hertl says:

Hey two straight starts for Dubnyk. And yay, we won. I also no longer have any hope for Jones, he’s in bum territory.
One thing we have to realize is that this season is over. The record only looks close to .500 at 9-11-3. In reality the Sharks gained 21 points and gave away 33! They are effectively 21-33, so literally 12 points (6 games) below .500. To compare, in terms of points, the 4th place team (Avs) is currently 28-22, so 6 points (3 games) over .500. This is especially important this season with all the games being within the division. The Sharks would really need to go on a serious run to even get close to a playoff spot… a team which has not been able to win 2 straight games (!) this season yet. Sorry, but we’re done.

It’s time to plan for the future and sell at the deadline – only a month away. Get as much as possible in picks and prospects. This team is not built correctly and just does not gel. I honestly feel that everyone should be on the table if presented with a solid return.

  3. James says:

Should the Sharks protect Knyzhov in the expansion draft?

    • James says:

One strategy could be the Sharks deal Vlasic before the trade deadline. Then they don’t have to protect him and his NTC. They’d have to retain some salary, but it would be worth it.

The Sharks could then choose the protect 3 defensemen option and protect Karlsson, Ferraro, Knyzhov, then dare Seattle to take Burns and his $8 mil per year. Even if Seattle does pick Burns, the Sharks would be liberated from two huge contracts. They would miss Burns, but IMHO they don’t need two rover offensive-minded defensemen and EK65 is younger and has a NTC anyway.

  4. Mudd says:

    Hey James,

    Just a quick response.
Knyzof and Ferraro are automatically protected because they are still in their first 2 years

    🙂
