There ain’t gonna be much to talk about re this trade deadline – Sharks made a couple of AHL trades and gave away a couple of players for a goalie prospect and a couple of 5ths.
I AM so divided on Hertl – I love the guy and want him to be here always, but I really think we could have made a really good deal for him.
Expecting BIG THINGS from Wilson over the summer. Somehow (and there ARE ways) he needs to shed some of these monster contracts.
Doug’s mic was dead when I first downloaded – glad to see that you fixed it…
See you guys again in a few months for the next podcast (right?)
Dudes, I feel I need to talk you two down off the ledge after that last podcast. C’mon, you think the fan base would have easily let Hertl go after how we lost Pavelskil? Sorry Doug Wilson is going through something now, but shouldn’t he retire or something? The fresh blood needed is on the management side. You go after the most popular player instead? Nope.
I think you guys were actually quite reserved. I was hoping for a full-on salty tirade. Maybe even another exorcism to break whatever trance the GM is in. I lived in NYC for many years. The papers and fan base would be in full revolt against a club as out-to-lunch as the Sharks. It would be required to clean house. It’s not just management. Even Couture was recently saying the team was in the playoff hunt. This is the team captain? Hertl wanting to re-up indicates he’s also living in fantasy land. This franchise is completely delusional. You think a three-year drought is bad? This franchise won’t make the playoffs for years to come.
Dudes, I’m excited to watch Thomas Bordeleau in the Frozen Four. Unfortunately Eklund has had a weak year in Europe. But Bordeleau has been great. And he’s a center.
I don’t really see how Bordeleau will fit in the NHL. His skillset would seem to make him a good third line C, but he’s undersized at 5′ 9.” Eklund has a much higher ceiling, even if his scoring in Europe this year weas disappointing. Maybe Bordeleau could be a bottom six winger who is a PK specialist and capable of adding some offense, if you don’t mind a bottom 6 that lacks size.
So, after 15 years you release an episode 16 minutes before the tree deadline??!!
I enjoyed the grilled cheese level of analysis…
