February 13th, 2026, 10:20 am
The Dudes reflect on the Sharks during the Olympic break, with two major personnel questions coming in the next month – Sherwood and Ferraro. Will either be moved? And with Celebrini already attracting attention on the world stage, what does this mean for the Sharks?

Loving the olympic hockey – mens and womens. Peripheral teams seem to be better this time around.
Watching Macklin, McKinnon and McDavid line is FUN!!!
And I’m gonna go ahead and say it… looking forward to watching Edmonton take a step back and then another and then McDavid’s 3yr deal is over and he’s looking for a new home. PERFECT timing to sign with the sharks.
There… I said it…
Great episode as always Dudes.
So interested to hear your thoughts on the Olympics.
I can see why Grier likes Sherwood. Playoff teams can use a physical player with scoring capabilities. But 5 years / $28.75 million for a guy currently playing on the third line for under 14 min? I don’t get that when the Sharks desperately need help on D.
Hey Dudes,
Impressed with Grier’s patience, planning and ‘striking while the iron is hot’ since he took over GM duties while managing drafting, trades and cap management for the rebuild. Plus, Warsofski’s coaching style seems to be ideal for this club. Macklin makes it easier, but they generally play honest hockey most nights. And Misa coming on strong lately – awesome to see this!
The concern about building a viable defensive core remains. While projections indicate we’re okay on forward prospects, not so much for the D. Aside from drafting more likely unripe defensemen this year (3-5 year development), Grier will have to likely move picks and assets to pry a d-man or two away from other clubs – the best teams trade for, sign an FA, or develop that #1 star defenseman. Who? From which team?
Finally, wondering if next year could be treading water or even a step back for this team somehow, especially on D. Shakir, Dmitry, Sam + ???. Yikes.
p.s. Use your connection with your homie DB22 to make Dickenson get in the weight room. I cringe each time he gets blown up Justin Braun style.
Love how competitive the Sharks are this year. But not a fan of the deadline decisions. The Sharks are a bubble team. Yet they probably left a second on the table by keeping Ferraro, and the Sherwood signing cost two seconds and a significant amount of cap space. Go get some defensemen first. This team is still years away from contending, and that’s fine, that’s on schedule. Like Mike said a couple episodes ago, sometimes the GM can go a little overboard at the deadline when their team improves.
I respect this opinion. But it would have been pretty cruel of Grier if he dealt away key pieces for considering this team has played above expectations. Even if they miss the playoffs, it’s good experience for the kids to play meaningful games until the end of the season. And who knows, maybe they sneak in and get playoff experience. So I like the move of keeping everyone together but as commented earlier I’m not a fan of the Sherwood contract when they have other more immediate needs and he’s an older player. Though now that the 3rd line is the 2nd line it looks a little better. And he is racking up hits which is a big addition.
Hey dudes,
Topic I’d like to hear you discuss – convince me Eklund should be part of the long term plan. He doesn’t fit Grier’s preferred player profile (Eklund is small), he plays small, regularly makes bad decisions with the puck, isn’t scoring, etc.
Seems like he would be a good trade piece for a defenseman while he’s still somewhat considered a prospect.
For some reason a lot of people view Eklund as one of the “untouchables” so I’ll probably get roasted for this comment.
I am starting to get concerned that potentially being in the playoffs is messing with the development of the young kids. Some players have got low icetime and last game against the oilers, we saw Misa on the wing for a while. Is it the coach or MG that is pushing for the playoffs rather than developing the future players we have that arnt ready yet?
I am also concerned that the whole team is built around one player. It makes it possible for the other team to target him and thus get rid of more or less the whole gameplan. Against ottawa they just tried to shut maclin down and the sharks had a super hard time to play agains that.
Speaking of the ottawa game… Im from Sweden living in Finland currently, and I can say that both in the Swedish and the Finnish league, most goalies look better than Brossoit did in that game. I sure hope Askarov will be back soon or that there is some backup plan..
I hope that you make another podcast soon.
