This podcast is recorded using Digidesign Mbox 2 hardware and Pro Tools 8.x software running on an iMac.  Two dynamic microphones are mixed with an external mixer, while an audio out is connected to the second input on the Mbox.  This allows us to record Skype phone calls when necessary, either for remote hosting or interviews.

For sound effects, I use Ableton Live.  Pro Tools is the ReWire master application, and Ableton is the slave- this allows me to output audio from Ableton into Pro Tools.  I trigger the sounds using an external midi device.  We could add sound effects in post-production, but we like to do as much as possible in a live setting, to keep it interesting and spontaneous.

Once mixed down, the mp3 is uploaded to the web site and the RSS is created using the PowerPress plugin for WordPress.
