Guys, I enjoyed your chat at the end of the podcast about the 3 point game and I myself have said this should be the way points are handed out during the season. The problem with true 3 point games is that I think and I have not done the math for the every team to back this up is that the NHL being a mostly gate driven league want teams to be in the playoff hunt as long as possible and a 3 point game would make more teams mathematically out of it sooner. Again I have not personally done the math but any time a 3 point system (3 Regulation Win, 2 OT Win, 1 OT loss) has been mentioned this seems to be one of the theories that follows.
