It’s the yearly holiday special, and there’s lots to talk about. The Dude recap the last Sharks games, and they are on a 3 game winning streak, with Logan Couture 3rd in the NHL in goals. There are some fun listener emails to get to, and Mike and Doug wrap it up with their Christmas hockey wishes.

Mike, Dude, you are like a bear, pooping in the woods right now, on Sharks fans. I love Weber, but I’m with Normal Doug, especially when you also factor in the difference in salary.
One under-appreciated thing about the season Couture is putting together is that he has 18 goals while playing mostly on a hybrid 2nd/3rd line, and with relatively little power play time.
In past years, when TMac (or Ron Wilson) wanted to get a guy going he would play him with Joe Thornton for a few games. Now, getting to play on the Clowture line seems to be the fastest way to getting your confidence in order.
Agreed on Justin Braun. I was sure he would stay, but he is going to be sent down unless they go with 7 Dmen for a bit or he starts filling up the box score at a Boyle-like pace, especially with Vlasic and Wallin showing some offensive adequacy and Demers back healthy.
Agree with Doug. Do not trade the Cooch.
Weber is good but not that good. I don’t think Nashville would do it anyways.
Merry Christmas dudes.
I’d trade Couture for Weber. We have forwards, we need defense, he’s one of the best in the game.
To me, Weber is like a Pronger or Boyle type of guy- if you can get him, you get him. Poll is up now, so everybody vote!
I agree and I think we tend to over value our players. Why wouldn’t you trade Couture for Webber? What the two people above state is so true. We need d-men and Webber is a guy you can’t pass on (assuming the Preds would even make the trade). Also, Webber has played very well in multiple seasons. Couture has less than half a season of stellar play.
Weber already makes $4.5M, and I seriously doubt he signs for less than that as an RFA. Couture makes $1.2M this season and next. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have Weber. But you have to have a balance between high-priced free agents (or trade acquisitions), and cheap, homegrown RFA talent, and that trade pushes an already top-heavy team even further in that direction.
Pretty much what I think. Seems like it would be a lose-lose for both teams. I think the world of Weber, but I just don’t think it helps the Sharks or the Preds.
I totally see the value in Weber, especially on this squad. But with the way the offense has been playing this season, I just don’t have the confidence necessary to let him go. The Red Scare is not ready for a full time job, nor are Wingles, or Mashinter, or any of these other prospects. Losing Couture is mortgaging the teams future, I believe.
Sup dudes, how was that curb stomping at the GAAAHHDEN?
Nice podcast, Dudes. Happy Holidays! That was probably me last season, I was using the HAMBURGERS / 7 logo as my Facebook avatar during the playoffs. While I haven’t gotten an actual jersey myself (yet), I’m glad that it exists. That’s awesome.
