I started the Shaved Ice Hockey Blog a few years ago, writing on my own about the Sharks. I realized that many of my posts were extremely boring (err, uh, unlike now). Instead of scuttling the whole idea, I asked my long time friend Doug to post as well, so we could make fun of each other when times got slow. Surprisingly, times didn’t get too slow. I tend to be a little more into the numbers-side of hockey, and believe that there are much better ways of evaluating the game that don’t yet exist. After a stint at Sharks Hockey Analysis, we blog here at DOH, starting in November 2009.
I’ve been playing and watching hockey for 15 years. Doug and I have season tickets.
I’ve been a Sharks fan since the Cow Palace and I used to have an Ulf Dahlen jersey. I am that rare breed that works in the performing arts by day and spends his evenings watching NHL Center Ice. I enjoy a good trade rumor and thrive on the little things that make hockey great, like my former namesake Mr. Grier. There’s nothing like a good scrum, an ugly goal and a beer in the lower bowl. The blog is a good way for me to get salty and talk to other fans who share my passion – seeing the Sharks win the Stanley Cup.
