DOH 337 – Confidence??
May 20th, 2016, 9:12 pm
The Sharks after a tough Game 1 loss, have been totally dominant in games 2 and 3. Is it time for confidence that the Sharks will make it to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in history?

Love this podcast. One note – Allen is not necessarily a desperate move. He started more games than Elliott during the season. He will be rested. Could be a Goalie Steal situation.
I also wonder how Allen will react tonight. Rust, rest, confidence? I think the main thing is SJ to just keep dominating and forcing turnovers. If they do that, like they have been for three rounds, it won’t matter if its Quick, Rinne, Elliot, or Jake Allen.
Oh. Its the Stanley Cup Final not Finals. 😉
Unbelievable Game 6. I didn’t know if they could pull it off. Jones looked very shaky. I didn’t like the 2nd or 3rd goals he gave up. But Pavs, Jumbo, and Vlasic were world beaters! And the Blues made some silly errors that led to blown coverage, as Hitch alluded to postgame. With this 11th postseason win, ’15-’16 is officially the most successful season in Sharks history. And it’s not over. Last round home ice was everything. Apparently this round it’s whoever scores first. The tank will be rocking Wednesday. Will you be recording prior to Game 6?
It’s cruel how much goaltending is highlighted in the playoffs, but Jones almost lost this one for the Sharks. The second goal was awful. Then there was puck that slid through his pads and went just wide, as well as the shot off the iron … The final score is misleading. We had puck luck and won by inches. It’s a credit to the team that they just kept fighting. I hope he bounces back because we’ll need better to win 5 more games.
Bottom line is, SJ got the w thanks to their play in the 3rd. Now let’s get another w. Go Sharks!
Dudes mentioned Tierney, who played great in G5. One of the most hard-earned empty net goals I’ve seen. Puck stolen right off Pietrangelo’s stick.
I agree that the play in the 3rd period was key; the forecheck was relentless which was a welcome upgrade from the L.A. series, where the Sharks just sat back in their zone and waves and waves of Kings rushes came their way.
As Havoc mentioned, Tierney played great. Spaling also took a huge hit to beat out an icing, which in light of the WCF loss to Vancouver a few years back thanks to a defensive face off, was huge.
Any idea what happened to Pollack? What set him off?
I hope Jones gets his game back. If not, we still have Reimer!

It’s good for SJ that the Pens won. Not only because it potentially gives the Sharks an extra day of rest if they win Wed, but also because they watched a visiting team win to force game 7. Don’t let that be the case tomorrow night. Go sharks.
The Tim Heed signing is interesting. Assuming Polak becomes a UFA, that’s DeMelo, Heed, Mueller, and Tennyson all competing for 1 starting spot. And then there’s Jeremy Roy. Considering the Sharks have had relatively little success developing young D, having multiple options and stiff competition is smart. Plus, maybe one of these prospects becomes trade bait.
Tim Heed is a good Pickup,
Sharks have been picking up swedes all season since they dont have many draft picks. Very smart move.
Have u seen the video that has been circling around of Patrick Marleau on the bench when the Sharks score a goal. He is like emotionless when the entire bench is Insain. What’s up with that??
looked like a guy who knows it takes more than 3 wins to win a series. also, it was an empty net goal. everyone needs to chill about it.
A whole lot of nothin. Move along people… we’re a win away from the Final.
SHARKS! PODCAST! NOW!
Doug totally called this.
Vlasic the unsung Sharks stalwart. +13 in the playoffs, 11 points, tons of TOI against the top lines.
YEAH DUDES!! Hope you were rockin’ at the TANK last night! 75% there!
