Mike called the Bruins loss. Agree with him 100% that the trade names bandied about are not impactful enough to justify giving up prospects. I’m quite nervous that Jones already looks fatigued and it’s only February. He is being way overplayed. Dell deserves more time. I expect DW will pick up a veteran goalie to challenge Dell for the backup role.
Dudes, thanks for the tip about the Tom Lynn book, “How To Bake an NHL Franchise From Scratch: The First Era of the Minnesota Wild.” I’m about half-way through and really enjoying it. (And no, I am not Wes Walz.)
The trade deadline rumor mill is surprisingly weak considering the expansion draft is around the corner. Sharks should add a bottom 6 energy guy to supplant Haley and a 7th D man because PDB doesn’t seem to trust DeMelo. And that’s all. The answers are on the roster. The pp needs to get going. Once that happens, this will be a very dangerous team.
Hi Dudes, love the podcast! So intrigued to see what the Sharks do at the deadline. Matty is right, the Sharks could use someone who can hit and has a little more defensive capability than Haley. I would not want to see him on a shift against Jeff Carter or Patrick Kane in the playoffs.
Jones is obviously still the starter, but I would have started Dell vs. the Bruins. Jones in the last 4 games has a .836 save % and has all the signs of goalie fatigue: out of position, slower reflexes, and gives up spurts of goals. Totally uncharacteristic of Jones, who is a world class goaltender. PDB, since Dell has the hot hand, what’s the harm in starting him back-to-back?
