Love the podcast dudes.
As a longtime sharks fan, and SC playoff fan, but someone not watching hockey otherwise, I say if the season resumes, Stanley Cup must be the trophy to play for. Otherwise I don’t care, and I think many NHL fans who never watch IHF tournaments feel the same way.
My proposal: 8 team playoffs. It works out that top 2 teams from each division have clear lead over the rest, so have those 8 play 1 vs 2 cross-dvision playoff within both conferences. These teams already played ~70 games to get in good position, so 3rd place teams should not complain. One location. Bring back only those 8 teams to play. Call end of season for the rest of the league. Less people to test and contain. Figure out a way for those teams to get in shape – maybe short camp with scrimmages with teams from opposite conference, since you won’t meet until finals. Yeah, this unique year it will only take 12 playoff wins to get the cup, but so what? Nobody puts (*) next to 70’s or earlier decade teams – Montreal played 13 TOTAL playoff games to get the cup in ’76!
Another note. I give coach BB a 4 out of 5 also. He did not have any favorites and played what was in front of him. The fact that the players didn’t even give him a “new coach bump” speaks to me like the team was an unsalvageble mess this season. Still not sure if I would keep him over a proven coach from outside, but I like him.

I forgot to mention that playing for SC, will motivate the players to actually play hard during (or near end of) a global pandemic…
