Lots of new players and excitement surrounding the Sharks, but most still pick them to finish dead last. The Dudes explore this question and preview the upcoming season.

I especially enjoyed the draft this year because I’ve been wondering if any of the teams that are “due” will breakthrough – Leafs, Canes, Devils. So I was wondering where those teams would be picked, especially after the Devils were drafted early last year. We’ll see if Doug is correct about the Leafs.
Just imagine if we’d picked Michkov instead of Smith.
Its been awhile, but I missed you guys! I’ll have to re-setup my rss feed, I’ve been addicted to YT for most of my podcasts.
Avs are 0-4 with a goal differential of -12.
Obv it’s way too early to judge, but yeah, I had this thought. Michkov looks so much better than Will Smith in the very early going. They’re only 4 months apart, but Michkov looks like a grown man out there. Michkov looks like a 40-goal scorer. Kind of exactly what the Sharks need to play with Celebrini.
I think this is the worst start ever for the Sharks. Not just the winless streak, but Smith not being handled correctly, Celebrini being injured quickly, and the team still having very little identity. This is the 4th coach in 6 years, but I can’t see much difference in team strategy from coach to coach.
That said, the Sharks are headed for better days in the coming years. Their forwards prospect pool is exciting. And if they draft a stay-at-home tower-of-strength defensemen in the first round this year, between that player, plus Dickinson and Mukhamadullin, they would have a decent D prospect pool too.
The Dudes were right about the Cuda. They are 5-1. Askarov is 4-0 with a 0.954 save percentage. Cagnoni and Bystedt each have 7 points in 6 games. Perhaps things are getting sorted out there? Maybe Smith and Musty should be on that club. I wonder what the advantage of putting those players in the OHL is versus the AHL. Perhaps Mike can explain.
Keep recording Dudes. Your podcasts can get us through the season!
Wondering why Smith is still on the big club. 0 points -4 through 8 games. Mostly invisible. Seems obvious he needs to go to the Cuda for a while.
Where are the Duuudes?
Also, while Granlund is having a monster year, can we acknowledge how good the EK65 trade was? Pens take almost the whole albatross EK65 contract, and the Sharks gets a first which ultimately became Dickinson, and Granlund, arguably their best player the past 2 seasons. Sure there was Hoffman and Rutta, but Rutta is actually helping SJ and Hoffman wasn’t on a long contract. Pretty sweet deal.
I think the dudes shaved their heads and sworn off dating men because Kamala lost the election. No more dudes on hockey. This is what you get you bigots. They will never podcast again till atleast the 2026 election. Do better people.
SURELY the dudes are recording today – the sunday after the Jumbo event. What a blast!!
When I saw Smith pass to Eklund, who then made a beautiful no-look pass to Celebrini, who scored, I thought, this is what Sharks fans have been dreaming of. Hopefully we will see a lot more of those 3 making similar great plays in years to come.
the dudes have forsaken us!
The whole season is going to pass and this comments page will chronicle everything that happened 🙂
The Walman “trade” – Detroit gave us Walman and a 2nd and SJ gave Detroit nothing – is one of the craziest trades I’ve ever seen. Walman is now the Sharks #1in TOI and among league leaders in points by a defenseman. I really wonder why Yzerman shipped him out, but even more so, why throw in a second to get rid of him?!? Thank you Steve Yzerman.
Dudes, you need to podcast. Celebrities is that guy. Dude is a monster out there. Despite missing a bunch of games, he leads the league in won puck battles. Not among rookies, among players. He is a monster and I love him. The Sharks are in every game and are so much fun to watch.
Smith and Eklund have come alive. Askarov looked fantastic in his 2 games and continues to dominate the AHL. Dickinson is too good for juniors. Walman… they gave us a 2nd round pick to take Walman. I’m flabbergasted.
Duuuuudes, it’s fun to be a Sharks fan again.
Damn autocorrect. Celebrini *
Duuuudes,
We’re all filled with excitement, but where are the Dudes to share in the joy and Celebrini celebrations after years of suffering? Under a rock? Vacationing in Tahiti? Egads, even perhaps podcasting for the Kings?
We know you have nothing better to do (as you’ve often inferred), so get the podcast going again! Maybe once monthly? All of your eight listeners are starving for your wisdom, insights, snark and good cheer. We miss you!
Go Sharks!
