Doug and Mike are joined this week by Mike Chen, blogger extraordinaire at fromtherink.com.  Mike, though he blogs about all of hockey, is a local boy and Sharks fan.  The Dudes grill him about his new gig, the state of the Sharks and their trade prospects, and his take on the Olympic blowouts.  Mike and Doug then discuss the departure of Jody Shelley, other trades that have gone down in the NHL, and random hockey business.

Dude, Billy Joel!!! He rocked it out that night. I thought him and Elton were pretty awesome for a couple of elder statesmen.

Being a 27 year old, I was definitely was one of the younger folks there, but my family had a great time.

Vlasic stagnating is definitely a possibility. While I think he will continue to grow, both physically and mentally, his game is based on positioning and smart plays which he is probably close to maxed out right now. At $3mil+ that is not so much an issue (as long as he doesn’t regress overall), but if he doesn’t improve it will be another evaluative mistake by DW (Michalek, Carle, Cheechoo, Clowe).

  2. Jerry says:

I found it odd that Mike Chen wouldn’t trade Vlasic even though he fears that Vlasic might already be starting to plateau. Yet, under the right circumstances, he’d be open to trading Setoguchi who has a much higher ceiling than Vlasic.
