post Episode 91 – Chin Up

March 17th, 2010, 8:50 pm

Filed under: podcast — Written by Mike

Mike and Doug purposely try to avoid jumping on the Sharks with both feet after the recent rash of disappointing games, but nibble around the edges instead.  The Dudes talk about when they need to pick it up, how the post season might go now that Phoenix is within striking distance, and break down the recent Hockey News prospect ranking list.

I wish I could tell you that the Sharks fought the good fight, and the Stars let them be. I wish I could tell you that – but the NHL is no fairy-tale world. DW never said who did it, but we all knew. Things went on like that for awhile – NHL life consists of routine, and then more routine.

  2. Andy C says:

Dudes – great show. Just what I needed to hear, just laughing at the current state of things over a beer! (Hell, thats what I do most nights anyway).

I think Nazi Troll could do with a beer & a chill out to escape from his routine!

You’re right, Andy C. Great show indeed. I especially liked the part about Vlasic. Things would be totally different if he was healthy. The Sharks would be playing with a sense of purpose and urgency. None of this sleepwalking through two periods crap and getting blown out by 13th seed teams. No. Vlasic’s absence is clearly what ails the Sharks because he’s the straw that stirs the drink. I can’t wait to get Pickles back so we can right the ship.

      • Mike says:

Ahh, sarcasm. Good stuff. However, I didn’t say (nor do I think) that Vlasic would have prevented this slump. I merely said I’d rather have him in there than Jay Leach, especially if he soaks up some of Blake’s minutes. If you’d rather have Leach in there than Vlasic, I think that makes one of you.

        • Evilducks says:

Ah, but Mike, you forget, being angry and passive aggressive on the internet can actually improve how the Sharks plays going forward.

          • Nazi Troll (aka the artist formerly known as Jerry) says:

Vlasic is better than Leach, but the outcome of these last few stinkers wouldn’t have changed with Vlasic in there. And if you think the pointless drivel that we’re all spouting off on this site makes any difference in how the Sharks play, then you need a refill of your medication buddy.

  3. Ian says:

Blake playing less minutes is always a plus in my book. Here is hoping for a better outing in Vancouver tonight.

  4. Ryan says:

Perfect podcast for the situation, dudes.

Can’t forget that statistically, the Sharks have a higher win percentage with Demers than without. Look it up.

Couture got the call-up today and hopefully he’s on a line with McGinn.

The team definitely misses Vlassic. Despite all the criticism fans have lumped on him, the team plays better with him than without him. He’s not the one thing that’s keeping them from playing well right now, but his absence doesn’t make things any easier.

We’ll see what happens tonight and on the rest of this Western Canada road trip. All I know right now is I’m saving all of my freak-out for the playoffs.

  5. Tomi says:

can’t help but notice, dudes, that our current losing streak once again coincides with the absence of Jason Demers. Is it a coincidence?
