The Dudes are celebrating after the Sharks vanquish the mighty Red Wings in the conference semifinals in five games.  Mike and Doug break down how it all happened, and have a conversation with Mark Smith about it.  ‘Smitty’ gives his perspective on this year’s Sharks, and fills in some personal anecdotes about some players he’s faced, and what kind of adversity he and other players have gone through in the postseason.

That was my first in-person series handshake as well! The Tank was rocking last night, and downtown was insane afterwards. Just too much fun! Good stuff tonight, dudes!

Congrats to all you Sharks fans on a great win. The team earned it and you folks deserve it. No excuses here. The Wings got outplayed in this series, plain and simple. I have to hand it to the Sharks for not quitting in any of those 4 wins and for their determination to come back in each of those games. They played like hell in the 3rd period in every game but that one game. And while I think the series was closer than 4-1, the only way the Wings would have won is if the Sharks beat themselves. They played with too much heart to be beaten by Detroit in this series. The Wings seemed to play this series similar to the one against Phoenix, but San Jose wasn’t going to let them off the hook like the Coyotes did. I don’t want to take anything away from this huge win for the Sharks and the city of San Jose, but I do feel like they have to win at least one more series to cement this in their legacy. The mission is not complete yet. You all know this. They’ll have their hands full with either VAN or CHI, but if they play like the have since the Dan Boyle goal, it’s going to be tough for anyone to beat them.

I’m looking forward to paying up on the bet. Until then, cheers to you guys and girls. Well done.

I missed the show in case they talked about it… What was the bet? Mike and Doug mentioned it but no one has said anything….

      • Doug says:

The bet is top secret for the moment but you will soon find out as WingsFan will pay up and on the air.

I can tell you that if the Sharks lost, Mike and I had to go to a sports bar with WingsFan and wear Red Wings gear and cheer for the Wings in the Conference Finals, get photographed doing it and post it on the blog. I think what he has to do might be even more painful…

You know being a Sharks fan in the playoffs really is like being in war… Long periods of waiting with intermittent short periods of terror.

    …. Is is Sunday yet?
