Leaving town tomorrow, so unfortunately I don’t have the time to properly write up what’s been happening, so I figured I’d create a new post for draft weekend discussion.  Topics of interest:

  • Drafting Charlie Coyle 1st round (who?)
  • Ducks getting both Cam Fowler (at 12!) and Emerson Etem
  • Trade of Keith Ballard to the Canucks
  • Sharks re-signing Wallin and Nichol (Wallin?  $2.5M?  I sincerely hope we only saw an injured Wallin last year)
  • Possibility of trading Nabby’s rights for something
  • Seto?
  • Hamhuis sweepstakes
  • Anything else your little hearts desire

I hope you’ve been following our thoughts recently on twitter. Link on the right there.

andrew desjardins was also resigned by the sharks

  2. MrT says:

Trade for good 3rd pair D at deadline who looks like he could contribute (although probably giving too much): Huskins CHECK Wallin CHECK

Player gets hurt and we don’t ever really get to see what they will look like in Teal. Too bad. Huskins CHECK Wallin CHECK

Player given gigantic raise based on nothing whatsoever by Doug Incompetence Wilson: Huskins CHECK Wallin CHECK

After this weekend I could probably write a post that would make Ryan Garner proud and that prospect quite frankly sickens me.

All we can do now is hope there is there is a huge move yet to come. We have what 9 Million left to play with, no Malhotra, No Setoguchi and no goalie and a D group that is actually worse then last year.

  4. Tom says:

How about a sign and trade??

    I wish.

  5. Ruben says:

He is only incompetent when it comes to signing depth defenseman. Other than that, DW is one of the best in the league.

That said, his fetish for mediocre #5 defenseman is annoying. I still have hope that it is a 2 year deal for $1.25million per, with Huskins going on his way out (maybe with Clowe) for a #2 Dman. I just don’t see how he can justify paying him the same as Doug Murray, who is an Olympian, younger, and plays the same positional game that Wallin does but with more physicality.

  6. Ryan says:

Just read that there is a verbal agreement between Sharks and Flyers to send Nabby’s right to them in exchange for a 7th round pick in 2011 draft. Ortmeyer also will not be resigned, but Malhotra will definitely be staying.

  7. Jim G. says:

Wallin according to got a no trade besides that wonderfully stupid salary.

The D is worse I’m sure Chicago is quite happy Wallin is back w/ Sharks especially at that price

  8. MJ says:

i was okay with DW signing the hamburgler but not at $2.5M, and definitely not with an NTC.

too much time under the tanning bed lights for the Sharks GM.

    • Ryan says:

A NTC? Seriously? Well there goes the hope that DW isn’t being a complete moron and would somehow trade away that terrible contract for a better D man. How can he even justify that contract?
