Which coaches whose teams made the playoffs do you guys think are on the hot seat? Untouchables have to be Babcock, Ruff, Quinneville, Laviolette, and Byslma. But if some teams fail to make progress, and I am thinking Washington, Vancouver, and Boston, do you think these teams will have to change? And where do San Jose and Mclellan sit?

I agree with your untouchables, and I’d put Tippett and Guy Boucher in there as well. I think Vigneault is safe. VAN was the lower seed last year, and lost to a better CHI team. It’s well known that even great teams can lose early in the playoffs. Two years running is a trend- if VAN wins the division again next year and does poorly, I could see Vigneault being let go.

Boudreau is definitely on the hot seat. Barry Melrose was on PTI yesterday saying he’ll be gone if the Caps don’t make the Finals. I wouldn’t go that far, but they need to at least make the conference finals, and probably have a good showing.

If the Sharks lose in the first two rounds, I could see T-Mac being vulnerable. If Hank comes back and the Wings start rolling, he might be able to weather a loss to Detroit. However, the turnaround since January will help him. As with all things Doug Wilson, it’s almost impossible to predict.

      • Nick says:

Unless there is unrest I’m unaware of I’d venture that T-Mac is a favorite of the players which should go a long way for him. I don’t think he’s in danger as long as the sharks get out of the 1st round, and even then I’d say he gets atleast one more go at it. I think the Sharks really want him to be the guy for a long time to come.

I’m starting to feel like we’re all getting a little too overconfident… I picked Sharks in 6 but am hoping for 5… I think the Sharks are gonna have to weather an OT or two. In fact my prediction is Sharks win 2-1 in OT tonight, and 3-2 in OT tomorrow. It might take a couple games for SJ to figure out how to crack Quick and the D… If they can come out ahead on the first couple games then I think we might see the Sharks put up 4-5 goals a game after that.

My favourite team in the Swedish Elite league (Färjestad BK) just won the playoffs here to become the swedish champions today. 😀

I just realized that this podcast should be DOH 143 (not 147)

You’re right. Fixed. Turns out the ID3 tag of the MP3 is actually correct, but it will be wrong in itunes- it uses the RSS Feed for the title.
