The Sharks are still reeling, and now there are rumors that Dan Boyle (among others) are on the trading block.  The losses keep coming, the goals do not, and the Dudes are no happier than they were last week.

You want more D? Also, you guys were talking about Hagelin like he isn’t still improving…he’s 24. Anyway good podcast just thought you guys weren’t being too harsh on Hagelin who I think would be a good fast young player for us (and a winger)

you should be happy for boyle. maybe he’ll go to a team where the other players actually care about winning.

I agree with your suggestion that the problem on the team are Marleau/Thornton. Over the years, I have see Thornton get better, but he doesn’t seem to have the same compete level that someone like Boyle has.

That being said, I don’t think DW will pull the trigger on blowing the team up. The last time he had a fire sale was the year they missed the playoffs.

The Sharks look a lot like the Flames have for the past few years. They keep trying to make minor adjustments to fix the greater problem:
    – We need a puck moving d-man: Enter Brent Burns
    – Nabby isn’t the right goalie: Nemo has been signed for a few years
    – The PK is killing us: Add Larry Robinson and PK has dramatically improved

Some intermediate steps haven’t fixed the problem either: Heatley, Cheechoo, McGinn for Galiardi etc

The Sharks remain competitive. They always seem to be missing one thing or another. On the other hand, they aren’t a cellar dweller. The most concerning thing in all of this is the low number of future prospects.

If this trend continues, the sharks will miss the playoffs and that will be the sign for true change for the team.

Agree on all points. And I’d add that DW has gone on record saying there will be no full rebuild as long as he’s the GM.

I think you nailed it though, the biggest danger is becoming like the Flames with a stubborn GM that has no internal accountability. And reading how David Pollack tried to question ownership regarding DW and came up empty just affirms my fear.

17 pts would be tied with Pavs for 5th on the Sharks. But I agree I’d be hoping for a bit more than that.

Im calling it. I think we’re done. As of right now we’re in the 9th spot in the west and only 8 pts over the LAST PLACE IN THE WEST.

Right now I think we’re on par with Calgary, Colorado, and Florida. And the way we’re playing I’m not convinced they can’t catch up to us.

I think it’s pretty assisted we’re getting a top ten pick this year. I think I’ll start researching the projected top ten ;).

Oh look an Ottawa 67 center sitting at #8 on HF’s rankings. Sean Monahan…

Doug Wilson’s master plan laid bare. I’m on to you Dougie!

Life has sucked since January, but even if it’s just one game, man was it finally fun to watch a Sharks game again.

No Murray to bog the game down. Fast up and down play. Quick exits out of the zone (for the most part). Boyle practically calling his shot at the end, damn was it fun.

Now I get to wait until at least Wednesday before the truth that trading Murray probably won’t fix all of our problems finally settles in.

Though, honestly, even if we had managed to fuck that game up, I would have been depressed, but at least would have still been a *FUN* game to watch.
