  1. Sharks suck says:

Well mike was off by just a couple goals. Sharks obliterate the kings at home 6 to 2. Meier scored 5 friggin goals. Good times. Glad your back dudes. Keep up the good work.

  2. James says:

I was so ready for Crazy Trade! I agree 100% with the dudes, trade Hertl. Who cares if you can be a bubble team for 2-3 years. I’d rather have a rebuild and a window to win a cup open in 4 years.

  3. TRex says:

Doug and Mike are completely correct that SJ should deal Hertl. But that’s not how Wilson is operating right now. He’ll make the wrong choice and sign Herlt for $8-$9 mil 7-8 years.

  4. Andy C says:

I do think there are 2 questions on Hertl: whether to cash in as a rental and then whether to offer him a contract in the Summer as a free agent. (There is a precedent for this: trading Marleau to the Pens as a rental & then signing him the next year).

The trading this mid-season should be a no-brainer: even if the Sharks stick around the bubble, they have
to trade Hertl if there are good quality prospects on offer.

But I still think there is the possibility for a quick reunion with Hertl if he sees his future in Teal. I’m not saying I’m advocating for this, but this is where that Kane money could be used. Basically, I think we can have our cake and eat it!

  5. TRex says:

I too was hopin’ for a crazy trade. Anyway, here’s three crazy predictions for this calendar year. One, the Sharks will miss the playoffs again. Two, Hertl will be a Shark next year. Three, Doug Wilson will not be the GM next year and his health may be a factor in that.

    • James says:

SJ definitely not making the playoffs. But they have to trade Hertl, right? I mean, if they don’t, that’s the kind of thing that should get a GM fired. Miss the playoffs 3 times, roster filled with bloated contracts, and you add another one? I think Hertl will be gone and expect the Sharks to get a first for him, but not as much as the Dudes were speculating.

  6. James says:

Stunned by the Athletic piece suggesting the Sharks are negotiating a contract with Hertl. Sharks’ management is living in fantasy land. Yes, let’s add another huge contract with term when our core can’t even make the playoffs. I’m salty! Honestly, can’t even watch the games these days because the team has no direction, no identity, no plan.

  7. Jason says:

Where the fuck are you guys? I need my fix. Got nothing else in Thailand but the awful Hockey Guy.

  8. Neil says:

    Honorable Duuuudes,

Hope you’re all healthy and in a good place.

Would it motivate you to know that DB22 would frown upon your negligence in regards to your fans? It’s been too long. Tut, tut!

We are thirsty for some more consistent ranting, moping and curmudgeonly awesome podcasts from our favorite dudes. Do we have to beg or grovel?

3 podcasts in 7 months. i think it’s safe to say the dudes are as disinterested in this sharks roster as the rest of us.

  9. TRex says:

Something that folks need to factor into the Hertl situation is he has an NTC + a 3 team list. The Sharks can’t just send him to the highest bidder, the way the Dudes seemed to be talking. He’d have to approve any team not on his list. Wilson has been too cavalier in giving out these deals. Let’s say the Bruins will give up a ton to get Hertl, but Hertl doesn’t want to move to Boston. Well, there goes that deal. Poor GM work is what’s gotten us here. And re-signing him will only continue to limit this roster.

  10. Heather says:

Where are the dudes?!?! Not even a tweet or blog comment for months!

I’m hoping the Sharks don’t screw this Hertl gift up. They should be allowing teams to negotiate contracts with Hertl right now so they get maximum return, not just rental return. I bet you could get a bidding war between the Bruins and Pens. Wilson, just let him go! Don’t wait until the last minute then take whatever you can get because you’re up against the deadline.

    End of screed!

  11. Louie says:

Pierre LeBrun’s tweet today about how talks with Hertl are still on going 5 days before the trade deadline has me worried. I wonder what the team’s goals and plans are. This team is going to miss playoffs again and DW’s/Joe Will’s plan is to continue to keep the aging core together? I can only hope it’s a sign-and-trade.

  12. James says:

8 year deal for Hertl?!? Fire the management. Clean house. These guys are indefensible.
