Newest episode here.  As last week, most of the ideas for the show came from you, the listeners.  I know it’s not a real hip-hop-happening time in hockey right now, but it’s a good opportunity to discuss those issues that aren’t particularly affected by whether Mark Parrish has been bought out or not.

great work as usual, I wanted to weight in on the proposed trade-and-sign. Michalek was resigned last season to the longest contract in franchise history so IMO he’s untouchable and I would be surprised if he didn’t atleast come close to finishing that contract in San jose. Cheech is more of a question mark based on his season last year but I think he’s going to bounce back as he was just hitting his stride at the end if the year and will be given another chance to prove what he’s got. While I’d be tempted by the possible cheech-mcclaren package I doubt it draws the kind of rerun you suggest it would.

For next week perhaps you’d cover the kinds of seasons you predict for some of our less predictable players, Cheech, Murray, McClaren, JR, Clowe (maybe…).

    Keep up the good work

There was an interesting article today on SI.com saying that LA is so far under the salary floor that they need to purposely take on some big contracts to get to 40M, which is where the Kopitar rumors come up. As of now, they have only 14 players signed, including just 4 dmen. If they need to take on salary for a year wouldn’t McClaren’s 1 yr at 2.5 make sense?

  3. Ian says:

The LA deal is a mess I know the Dudes put them at 4 Million below the floor, I had heard up to 11 Million and today on talk radio in Toronto they actually said it was 13 Million bellow the floor. What the actual number is I have no idea but yeah they are gonna have to make some trades and pick up somthing on the free agent market. They can’t play the offer sheet game because any team would happily get rid of what ever RFA for a chance at drafting Taveras. There are no Free Agents out there that they can throw alot of money at Glen Murry for example should expect maybe 3 Mil a year at the most and that is still over payed. I don’t know if they can extend the contracts of their prospects like Bernier if that would have any effect Its absolutly crazy. What a disaster.
