post DOH 14 – Teal and White

Filed under: blog — Written by Doug

We were both very excited to finally see some live professional hockey last night in the Teal and White game. It’s a opportunity to check out some of the young guys that are coming up, and a first look at the new faces, like Blake and Boyle. The latest podcast is about that, and we continue our season preview.

In other matters, you see we have a new look and feel over here- lots of changes have been made to the hockeyanalysis.com group of sites. I certainly recommend you check out the other sites here, be it other teams, the rumors site, or the fantasy site.

Also, you can see I’ve added an advert for the upcoming Sharks call-in radio show. It says “Saturdays” but the first show is October 4 October 11, so don’t tune in quite yet. Store up all your rants, raves, and questions for the Saturday after the season opener, and I hope you’ll call in. It can be streamed over the web at the KDOW 1220 website.

Finally, we’ve launched our very own fantasy league for readers of the blog and listeners of the podcast. I guess that means everyone on Earth, although somehow our numbers just aren’t reflecting it yet. Anyway, it’s a Yahoo league, id# 45644, password ‘danboyle’. I hope you’ll join up, meet other readers/listeners, and trash talk us in the message section. And no, I don’t think I’ll give you Evgeni Malkin for Fedor Tyutin and Mark Smith.

Whoever reworked the site sure as hell broke it for Safari on Mac OS X. The posts are still readable, but overall alignment is all outta whack. The link header is now a footer. The blue background fill of the header mysteriously does not exist, leaving me with text sitting on top of that lovely diagonal stripe (eyes go buzzzzz). If I resize my window, I can make your widgets slip and slide under the Site Newsfeed sidebar. There are other obvious problems, but you get my point: this is some ugly, ugly coding. I can send you some screenshots if you’d like to see how bad it is for yourselves.

    Just sayin’…

Whattya know, I post that comment, and it’s working correctly again. Maybe I caught it between updates.

    Never mind.

  3. Mike says:

Ok good. Yeah, the first time I came here after the update I had to do a manual refresh, and it’s been ok ever since. Let me know if you have any more problems. I have a Mac at home but I’m a loyal Firefox user on all three platforms.

Murray extended 4 years. No word on price yet.

  5. Mike says:

Anyone care to speculate on the amount? I’m guessing between 2.5 and 3M per.

  6. Nick says:

That seems a bit on the high end considering he’s really a 3rd pair defenseman with only one season under his belt. I’m going with something just under 2

  7. Ian says:

I think that if hes going to forgo UFA status there has to be price to go with that kind of term I’d hope its nothing higher then 3.5M unless its a back end loaded contract. I’m going to go with 3 to 3.5 Mill since that seems to be the current market.

  8. 2.5M is the winner. I think that’s about right. I hope to write a post on this later.

  9. BreAnn says:

I think I got the last fantasy spot. I haven’t done a team in a couple of years and look forward to another round of hockey.

Plus, since I moved to outside of Toronto, in April, and left my Season Tickets with my friend, I need some friendly Shark fans to talk with.

I hope the Sharks do something good to get back under the cap. Like getting rid of McLaren, lol or even Blake and yes I know we signed him in the off season this year.

  10. Ian says:

2.5 Mil is a good deal as he probably could have got more on the open market with how things have gone.

  11. Nick says:

I guess I didn’t properly account for the inflation in D-man salaries during this off season. While I still think/hope this is a good value for the sharks is the long run I still don’t think this is another ‘great value’ (yet, it could or could not be) fetched by the master, DW. Not to say he’s not still the master, because he definitely is.
