post Waiting…

This might be the right place to break down all the things that have happened to the Sharks recently, like the Nichol signing, the new assistant coach, etc., but it’s summer, and we are too lazy.  We’ll just talk about it instead on the latest podcast.  A lot of your comments in the previous thread sparked discussion, so check it out.  Of course, things being how they are, we know for a fact there will be a trade sometime before training camp, but we’ll just tear our hair out waiting for it to happen.  And hoping that the Sharks don’t get reamed.

First off I know I shouldn’t be looking at this web site anyways. But, hockeybuzz does have one consistent purpose. A 3% accuracy rate really means that 97% of the time Eklund tells us what won’t happen, kinda like Richard Dreyfus in “Let It Ride”…

Anyways, he has one rumor that actually makes sense. He says Sharks are rumored in a three way deal with Chicago, Montreal, with Patrick Sharp coming to SJ…??? Interesting…

I would assume it would have to include Michalek. Milan makes 4.3m Sharp 3.9m. Blackhawks are in serious cap trouble also so they might be able to dump cap too onto Montreal…

    Whattathink dudes?

Shame on you Tom! I never look at that website…LOL. I love the “Let it Ride” reference too, by the way.

We have mentioned Patrick Sharp and Dustin Byfuglien as possible trade targets from the Hawks if they were looking to dump salary – the problem is that they both make pretty nice chunks of change – but both would be the type of players the Sharks need to target.

So, the simple answer is – YES. I would swap Michalek for Sharp. Anyone else?

  3. Ian says:

Eklund… ugh. But yeah I would definatly take Sharp for Michalek, it does not clear up any real cap space but you dump Cheechoo which I think has to happen and then you have up to 3.4 Million not alot but a start.

  4. Ivan M says:

Sharp is a clutch player. Michalek completely vanishes in playoffs. I’ve had enough of him. So yes, I’ll make that swap.

At this point I’m no longer expecting any trades. DW will either put expensive players on wavers, or sadly, one of them will find out what’s it like to be in Kyle McLaren’s shoes.
