post I Heart Ty Conklin

David Perron is my hero. I have a David Backes USA jersey on as I type. Eric Johnson is the future of our children. I love (gulp) Paul Kariya.

Why am I Blues fan today? Because their matchup against the Nashville Predators today at 5pm is the single most important game of the season for the San Jose Sharks. Why? If Nashville wins, the door to Hell opens and the potential for playing the Red Wings in Round 1 remains a possibility. Even if the Sharks beat Phoenix tonight, if Chicago beats Detroit tomorrow, LA gets two points in their last two games and Nashville win tonight – guess who’s coming to dinner next week? Son of a B.

BUT – If Nashville loses tonight, even in OT, the nightmare goes away. It’s not possible for Detroit to fall past #6, and the Sharks would snag LA, Nashville or Colorado in the first round.

It’s as simple as that. I believe the road to the Cup goes through Detroit no matter what – but not in Round One. So strap it on Ty Conklin and win one for the Dudes. The Sharks need a little postseason luck to bounce their way after last season’s Hell-ish draw and this could be step one towards a beautiful Stanley Cup run.

One more guys. Just win one more.

One more guys. Just win one more.

Chicago now has loads of extra motivation to win tomorrow too. They would get the best 1st round opponent, home-ice in the west, AND f*** us right in the ass…

Well I definitely don’t want to see the winged wheel that fast, but I will admit the prospect of playing the Predators or the Avs in the first round is kinda exciting, I don’t want to have the potential of another year where “X” wasn’t your typical “Y” seed, no excuses, no surrender, Go Sharks Go!

Would your mother appreciate such language?

  2. Ian says:

Apparently Center Ice shows baseball now :-/

    • Tom says:

I was on the phone for 40 min with DirecTV until we figured out it was crap-cast….

Can’t wait for this issue again during the PO’s…. Uuugh…

      🙁

      • Ian says:

I feel your pain, the only good that would come from a first round meeting with the Wings would be that I at least would not have to worry about if the sharks will make it on to CBC or TSN who definitely won’t show baseball over playoff hockey lol.

    Dudes….

Is there going to be a p-cast before game one if it starts Wednesday? Or are you going to wait until after?

Plus we need a fantasy update…. I’m getting killed in the final!

    PLAYOFFS!!!!!!

I feel obligated to reverse this jinx to the best of my ability and point out that Nashville still holds the first tiebreaker (wins) over Detroit, so if the Wings lose today (which means the Hawks win and take the 1-seed), they finish behind the Preds. The Kings also hold the first tiebreaker, so a win or OTL for LA would vault them, too, over Detroit, dropping the Wings to the 7-seed.

So let’s get a new post of “I heart Jimmy Howard” up before noon today!

  5. Patrick says:

Oh my God, I was about to have a heart attack during Chicago’s power play at the end of that game. Toews hits the post from right on the doorstep, and if that goes in it’s SJ/Detroit. Instead, bring on Colorado!

How about the Flyers/Rangers? 1-1 on goals by Shelley and Carle… pretty weird. I would hate to see the season decided by a shootout for one of these teams, but wow, that would be an intense shootout.

  6. Ruben says:

I prefer to think of it as rooting against the blackhawks, then I don’t feel so bad. Either way, this is the first bit of playoff luck the Sharks have had in awhile. About time.

  7. Tom says:

I understand those of you that chose to cheer for Detroit and your feelings afterwards., at some level I agree… and this isn’t directed at anyone or a responce/rebuke either..

but really… F*** detroit! F*** them and their fans. I am so tired about hearing how eveyone wants to avoid de-twat… I really hope we play them in the PO’s this year. I didn’t want them in the first round also, but in the same way I didn’t want Chi, Van, and Pnx. I think we are giving them WAY too much respect. I want to kick the crap out of them in a big way.

    rant over…sorry.

    • Ian says:

I appreciate the sentiment Tom, Compared to Nashville or Colorado the Wings are a totally different draw I think that if/when we face them its going to be a long series so the later we see them, the better. I think that we can beat the Wings but I’d much rather gain some momentum over the Avs first in what should be at most a 5 game series leading to some rest before our next opponent rather then see the wings for 6-7 games in the first round.

The bottom line is this has to be the year the Sharks and it does not matter who gets in the way we NEED to knock them over.

      Go Sharks Go!
