The Sharks are good enough, they're smart enough, and gosh darn it - people like them.

Everyone open your Dudes on Hockey daily affirmation book to page 5 and repeat after me.

I am a good and loyal Sharks fan. Before I panic and start contemplating ways to end my fandom, I will remember the things that give me hope today. I remember that the Sharks overcame a terrible performance by Nabby to win Game 2. I remember Dan Boyle and company refusing to give in to past demons and winning Game 4 in OT. I remember this Sharks team doing the improbable and leaping out to a devastating 3-0 lead on the hated Red Wings. Most of all, I remember this is not the same team that has let us down before.

And for all these things and many more, I know the Sharks can and will win Game Five on Saturday night. This is not the past. This is the present, and in this present – the Sharks overcome all obstacles and end up on top.

Amen. Let’s eat.

Not even worried, and we have no reason to be unless the Wings push 6 that we could at least contemplate panicking. This is OUR series to lose not theirs to win.

The last time the wings beat us 7-1 we came back and eliminated them from the playoffs the next game… respect history!

    Go Sharks Go!

I don’t know why, but this loss didn’t eve phase me. I wasn’t even depressed last night and I’m stupidly optimistic today.

      it’s weird.

Oddly – I feel exactly the same way… Won the 2 home games and a split at the Joe… Sounds pretty good to me when you put it like that! I just presumed they would lose Game 4 and they did – doesn’t matter how.

(I even smiled a knowing grin at the comical OG – you thnk that was bad? – we’ve survived worse these Playoffs already)

I’m glad you posted this before I hit the publish button on the “SHARKS R LOSRS AN WER ALL GONNA DIE” post.

  3. The Meat Rind says:

The Sharks suck and are proving to the world what chokers they are! Thornton is a p***y if I ever see him in the street I’ll kick his a**!!! Wings have dominated this series, if it wasn’t for Bettman this would’ve been a sweep!

All things I’ve seen posted on Detroit blogs.

    …and back to reality…

I was angry at the Sharks meltdown last night, but I have to be honest I think we all felt it coming. But they are the better team in this series and will prove that Saturday! Loved seeing Jumbo get pissy, and say something after to the effect (about his altercation with Holmstrom) “he bumped into me, I’m the bigger guy, so he went down.” Lol… At least we didn’t completely skate out of the Joe with our tails between our legs.

Please Sharks finish them on Saturday, I can’t take the stress and I’m sick of their whiny fans.

  4. Tom says:

I can handle losing… I don’t think losing 7-1 is ever good though. We will find out tomorrow night though if it had any effect in this series…

The main thing I hate is the bull shit choke talk that is inevitable. Sharks are going to have to pass the test in game 5 plain and simple.

  5. Ruben says:

Same here Evilducks. Strangely optimistic. Almost hoping the Sharks laugh it off as one of those things and get back to work Saturday.

    Go Sharks!

  6. Mike says:

A little surprising to me that the current odds on Detroit winning the series is 8-1: same as if each game were even money. Actually, worse odds than when the series started- Sharks were -120, Detroit even money. In a way, Vegas thinks the Sharks have a worse chance of winning any of the following three games than they did before the series started.

  7. Patrick says:

Well Dudes – been back from my honeymoon for a little over a week now, but things were going so well that I didn’t want to jinx anything by posting, so just been reading and listening lately. (BTW, I took everyone’s advice for the most part and left hockey on the mainland, with the exception of the 5-0 win in Game 5, which we watched at a micro-brewery).

I echo the same thought that for some reason that loss didn’t phase me. Honestly, if they had lost 4-3 in 2OT I would have been crushed.

All things considered, I say mission accomplished to this point. They held up on home ice and took one in Detroit. Going into the series I would take that 10 times out of 10.

Hopefully Vancouver can win tonight and keep that series going at least 6 games…
