Another week, another huge trade with Minnesota.  This time Dany Heatley is shipped for Martin Havlat.  Mike and Doug try to deal with their collective shock and look at the trade objectively.  Also, with so many other signings in the past week around the league, they try to find the winners and losers in the group.

I, too, am thinking that Burns will be re-signed, in much the same manner as was Niemi.

The LACK of cap space presented problems, midway through this past season. It’s good thinking to leave room, for some mid-season maneuvering this year.

The CAPS are definitely makin’ it happen. Would love to see Chimera in TEAL.

  2. Pete says:

One more thing: The money Philly gave Bryzgalov, is the most preposterous contract given to a net-minder, since NYI signed Rick DiPietro. (What was Holmgren thinking?)

  3. Evilducks says:

How can you say the Wings made no mistakes? Ericsson for 3M for 3 seasons? He’s horrible.

    • WingsFanInSharkLand says:

Agreed. I don’t know what Holland was thinking.

    • Ruben says:

Yeah, agreed. I don’t think they were losers in any sense, but I don’t see how they improved the team. They replace Rafalski with White, which is an upgrade in availability but a downgrade in skill. At best, they are treading water.

Vokoun for $1.5 million… has there been a better signing in recent UFA history? The market for goalies is just insane, you never know what people will go for.

    • Mike says:

Yeah, true. Ericsson’s contract looks awful next to White’s. Forgot about that one while we were taping.
