So maybe the Sharks didn’t beat the Hawks the way we wanted, but a win is a win.

Thanks for the podcast, dudes. Though I disagree on Ray Whitney fitting in, I do agree that a) I do not see why the Coyotes would trade Whitney, and b) that the price may be prohibitive.

What I mainly disagree with is the Shark’s needs right now. The Sharks are an outstanding defensive team, with two way forwards up and down the lineup and the GA totals to prove it (5th overall, I think even better at even strength). Their PK is just fine, finally regressing to the mean. McGinn, Clowe, and Winchester seem to provide more than enough of that “Raffi Torres grit” that seemed to be lacking.

But the Sharks are only 13th in the league in scoring. I would not like our 3rd line matchups against Vancouver, Detroit, or Boston, and that is even if we had Gaustad instead of Mitchell or Handzus. But if we added a 2nd liner (assuming a cost of Demers and a 2nd) which pushes Havlat down to the 3rd line and Mitchell down to the 4th, I’m having trouble seeing how that team isn’t better than one with a guy like Gaustad (or Knuble… do not want).

    Thanks again guys!
