post DOH 234 – SWEEP

Incredibly, the Sharks sweep the Canucks in the first round, with Patrick Marleau, Joe Pavelski, and Logan Couture leading the charge.  Mike and Doug try to determine whether it was the Sharks winning the series or the Vancouver losing it, then move on to other 1st round matchups, and who the Sharks might face in the second round (rhymes with snackhawks).

Instead of double barrel Brent Burns, you meant to say it would be 2nd degree Burns

    Dudes,

I agree with Mike about STL. I learned my lesson last year. DO NO WANT…

However, I also agree with Doug, I’m not that terrified of CHI. And from what I’m seeing on the internet, Hawks fans don’t want anything to do with SJ and would much rather have DET. So I think that should tell us something right there.

LA might be ideal, if for nothing else less travel, but ANA looks like they’re posed to take that series.

If we end up drawing CHI at least we’ll know pretty quick what kind of team we really have this year, becuase if we can beat CHI then we can beat anyone IMHO.

Under the circumstances, I would rather have Chicago in R2 than R3. If they were going to play a super-physical team next round, then I’d hold out some hope for them getting worn down or injured (or, ideally, losing). But they’d be playing Detroit, who isn’t physical and who wouldn’t put up a good fight (IMO) in the series. Chicago would slaughter Detroit. Meanwhile the Sharks would be in a super physical series against STL/LA, which I can’t see them winning in fewer than 6 games.

If we avoid Chicago next round, it’s 10x more likely that the Sharks would be the tired, injured team going into a conference final matchup with them. I’d rather get it over with while the Sharks are hot and see what happens.

It will be fun to go into a series perceived as big underdogs for once.

Right now I’m drunk on an island in the midle of the Atlantic ocean and people around me couldn’t care less.. but seriously.. GO SHARKS!
