Mike Babcock has made his decision, and it’s the Toronto Maple Leafs.  Todd McLellan actually beat him to the punch in choosing Edmonton, but the question remains- who is still out there, and who will be coaching the Sharks in the fall?

Babcock has won everything but the Jack in his career. And you don’t win coaching awards behind a team that is as good as the ‘wings. So they’re offering him a kings ransom, and the chance to do something he never has before.

  2. James says:

Mike definitely called the Babwatch result. Who would have thought the Oilers and Leafs would be the teams handling the coaching frenzy better than anyone else?

    • Mike says:

True, but it’s amazing how a pile of money and/or a generational talent can change one’s outlook.

  3. Tyler says:

Great podcast, Dudes. I too was thinking Tippett would have been a good fit if available. Regarding salty Jumbo, it’s going to very difficult to root for him next season due to his attitude. That crazy trade is truly crazy. No way should the Sharks trade Couture as they have the weakest offense they’ve had in ages. Liked the goalie chat. Would love something similar for forwards and top-4 D candidates you think the Sharks could / should pursue.

  4. James says:

“New teacher” analogy aside, how can anyone argue DeBoer (1 playoff appearance in his coaching career) is an upgrade over TMac. Sharks look just like last year’s Canucks: aging stars, bubble team, no plan for the future, treading water to sell tickets.

    • Tom says:

He isn’t an upgrade. I don’t think anyone would make that statement. In fact I read DeBoer was 2nd in line when Tmac was originally hired.

I still contend though that Tmac quit, even if he would have been fired if he had not wanted to leave…. So yes you’re not wrong in that regard.

I could argue a few things on DeBoer’s side…. But I wont because I find it irrelevant to the main issue at hand… Which is I still claim that the sole problem with this team lies mostly in the dressing room. Nothing will change until #19 and #12 are gone. IMHO.

  5. GShark says:

    Please Dudes. I am starving.

  6. James says:

3 weeks since the last podcast … Even the dudes don’t want to talk about the Sharks these days.
