well, well. what a pleasant surprise. great episode. great to hear your voices. i’m completely disinterested in the current sharks, but want as much DOH podcasting as possible please.

glad you’re back guys – I have a suggestion for the LV trip draft program. I have to say that listening to you guys hemming and hawing over whether to select columbus or new jersey is the dullest episode every year.

I suggest that you start the program right after the draft is complete and use the program to read off your selections from start to finish adding commentary where needed and blowing right on by the ‘boring’ picks.

And I wanna hear that ‘crazy trade’ theme song at least once next season.

Love you guys and am glad that you’re committed to staying with it

respectfully disagree. i love the draft episode. they talk a little trash to each other, play subtle mind games, and we really learn what the dudes think of each team.

dudes, you also missed timo’s 5-goal game.

regarding the gm, i completely agree with this quote from a guy quoted in sheng peng’s recent article: “ …they say [owner Hasso Plattner is] delusional. He wants this team to be competitive. There’s no retool, no rebuild.” yep, exactly. the sharks should be humble and open-minded, listening to all proposals from candidates. instead, they are delusional and myopic, hiring a yes man. let me save all the fans some time next season: the sharks will switch up their bottom 6 a bit this year, go out and get a ho-hum 15 goal-scorer, and miss the playoffs again next year. rinse and repeat.

      • James says:

Agreed. Love the draft. It’s the way I get a quick preview of expectations surrounding all the teams. “Oh, the Wings got drafted late. I guess they’re still in a rebuild … ”

The only thing I’d add is, it would be interesting to learn where each Dude would draft the Sharks.

How many minutes after recording the episode did boughner get fired? Made me laugh how part of your predictions came true right after you release the pod???

  4. Heather says:

I’m surprised how little we have heard about the Kane ruling and its litigation process. Thought the Sharks and him would have reached a deal. Now it’s all or nothing – either they are completely off the hook for his salary or the contract will need to be honored. I tend to think he’s going to win. Then the Sharks will buy him out. Oh man are they in trouble with their contracts.

  5. James says:

Can’t really blame Grier for the Sharks’ terrible move to trade down from 11 when they desperately need top tier talent, then end up taking a 2nd round prospect in the late 1st. At the same, not a good start to how Grier is running things. Might indicate he has relatively little power. I mean what a bonehead move. You need blue chip prospects, Mike!

I can’t watch this same core a 4th year in a row. Taking a season off from the Sharks. But if the Dudes ever start regularly recording again, I’ll be listening!

  6. hal says:

Wilson Jr is fired(?) today. I was just asking myself the other day if Wilson Sr really retired or was he gently let go. Jr’s firing seems to add to the evidence that Sr was indeed fired. no emoticon for dumpster fire is there?

    • James says:

I like it. Give Grier a chance to put his own people in place.

      • James says:

Losing Balcers and Dahlen on a team desperate for offense and legit NHL players? Huh? Dahlen could be a 20-goal scorer. If he had played a full season, he would have had 15 last year. Balcers played his heart out and is still young. First 3 moves by Grier (including the trade down at the draft) are all head scratchers. Apparently Grier’s motto is just grit.

        • James says:

Kudos to Grier for dealing Burns. The players he brought on today are exciting because they’re so different. Grier is building a team identity. He’s winning me over. And it’s hard to imagine many of the current core fitting into that. I’m looking at you Kevin Lebanc and EK65 and MEV. That said, Mr. Grier, this team is desperately in need of scoring – and that was before Burns. Balcers, and Dahlen departed town.

  7. Heather says:

I love the Grier hiring and don’t mind trading down in the draft! Grier was a highly competitive player who could bang the body despite not being big himself. Hopefully he gets some size and sandpaper for the roster. I think he will be better at building a 3rd line than Wilson was. Maybe he didn’t want to risk a #11 pick without adequate prep. Better to get 3 guys and a higher chance one will make the NHL. The Wilsons had an incredible run but seemed out of ideas. Excited to see what a Mike Grier team is. Go Sharks!

  8. Trex says:

Misisak’s Twitter still doesn’t even mention the players signed today except Lindblom. But he’s retweeting joked about Johnny Hockey. lol How does this guy have a job. Kurz where are you. Ended my Athletic subscription. Pashelka is better
