I’m in wait-and-see mode on Grier and Quinn. I want to see the team moving in the right direction this season – that’s all I’m asking for.

  2. bc says:

doug, is it necessary that you end almost every statement with “right?”? not sure i can listen anymore

  3. James says:

Too bad the first team with a goalie emergency is the VGK. Unlikely Grier would trade with them.

    • James says:

I didn’t think the Sharks would give them Hill for a late pick. Like the comment below I assumed the idea was to deal Reimer for a higher pick. Puzzling move but I guess we kept our 2 best goalies.

  4. TRex says:

I’m fine with a rebuild but don’t get why the Sharks continue to say they’ll be competitive this year. To be competitive they needed to add scoring and defense. From here looks like they actually lost a little scoring and their defense is worse – especially without Knyzhov. Just tank to get EK65 off the roster next year and kick the rebuild into high gear. They need some top tier picks. Like a couple of years picking in the top 5.

  5. James says:

I think we’re learning, Grier is not a good deal-maker. Gets a 4th for Hill, after the Sharks paid a 2nd + Korenar? Would have liked to have seen a 3rd, or maybe even a 2nd. I agree with the Dudes that the weak return for Burns was understandable because Burns had a NTC. No such excuse here. The VGK were desperate. Sharks were in a position of strength.

    • Mike says:

Or Hill is two years older and couldn’t secure the starting job on a bad team with no goalies, and is thus worth less. I’m not sure which I buy into, but I think both are plausible.

    • TRex says:

They were never going to get a 2nd for Hill. Smarter play was to trade Reimer. A 2nd would be likely. This is the problem with this half-hearted commitment to a rebuild. SJ has to win a few games, so they keep Reimer, rather than get the higher pick.

Have to respectfully disagree with Doug. No, this team will not contend for a playoff spot.
