I had never watched one of these before – good thing about being a sharks fan was that we were always too busy watching playoffs for this show. OMG, what a fucking BORE! But I was panicking at the flip of #6 too.

I shut if off after the sharks announcement, then realized that ANA could end up with the #1 – hung out to see that NOT happen – YAY!!

Who to pick at #4? That’s a tough one

  2. Mudd says:

    Leo Carlson please 🙂

  3. James says:

Picking fourth makes things easy for SJ. They will simply take Carlson or Smith, whoever is left. Agree with McKenzie that it’s hard to imagine Michkov going this high with his contract plus the war.

    • Nazir says:

I could definitely see Girer and Quinn like Smith’s Massachusetts ties but how can you pass on Michkov? Pronman wrote he’s “one of the very best first-year draft eligibles I’ve ever seen from inside the offensive blue line” and projects as a “game-breaking elite scoring winger in the NHL.” The Sharks need a new superstar who scores loads of goals. If you could get a young Kucherov wouldn’t you?

Dudes! Get back in that podcast room!
    Yeayeah baby!! Less go!

    • James says:

      Agreed

    • NillsEkman says:

Yeah come on dudes. I miss your summer episodes where you claim you have nothing to talk about and then go on for an hour. Please do. And serve up some (cue music) crazy trades.

I’m surprised Grier is getting a pass from the local media scribes. Letting Adin Hill go, petty return for Burns and Meier, and winning meaningless games when in pole position for the best odds at Bedard. Sorry to be negative but those are all potentially franchise-altering mistakes. I mean how do you not tank in that situation?

Now he faces another test: Michkov or Smith? I don’t know who the right pick is but hope they get this one right. And I agree with some others: Change the darn uniforms!

  5. Nazir says:

How are we to react to Adin Hill’s excellent play for Vegas? Is he simply on a heater, or were the Sharks just so bad he never had a chance to succeed? In which case, how will we ever identify a good goalie? Because we will be bad for a long time. Very few goalies can do what Luongo used to do for Florida: make endless saves on a losing team.

    • James says:

His .906 save % on an absolutely terrible ’20-21 SJ team is better than any of SJ’s current goalies. Maybe they gave up on him too quickly.

  6. James says:

Would have liked to see the Sharks trade up a few spots to get Gabriel Perreault after he dropped. Will Smith and him have great chemistry. The Flyers made a great deal with LA. But maybe the Sharks didn’t have trade bait like Ivan Provorov.

    • Nazir says:

Based on his tweet Pashelka was also expecting SJ to trade up and nab Perreault. My guess is they didn’t think there was that much difference between him and Musty, who seems like a good pick. A little sandpaper in his game. Maybe a future linemate for Smith. And the Sharks didn’t have to give up anything.

  7. James says:

Timo signs for 8 years with Devils. Huge mistake by SJ’s front office not to include a pick for this event in their trade. The Sharks should have demanded a pick if Meier signed with NJ. The Sens demanded an unprotected 1st if the Sharks signed EK65 and we know what happened there. I know EK65 is a bigger name, but Meier is younger, in his prime, and a 30-40 goal-scorer. We couldn’t get, like, a 3rd if he signed with NJ? Maybe even a 2nd?

    • Nazir says:

Agree. We heard Grier was grinding NJ for the best deal but the bottom line is not getting an extra something – even a 5th – for Meier signing is long-term is bad deal-making.

  8. James says:

Not sure why Grier thinks size matters in the new NHL. Hasn’t he watched the past 3 teams to win cups? Speed, skill, depth, and goaltending. And yeah, the Sharks didn’t draft a goaltender. After Grier dumped Hill, who went on to be runner up for the Conn Smythe. What exactly is the plan at that position? Head scratching decisions.

  9. Mudd says:

So we have a Ton of QO’s to talk about and the QO’s that werent made as well.
We have a need FOR MORE DUDES!! Get in the podcast room! Fire up the command control center!!! Lets go duudes! You think im only gonna listen when were good!? We suck! Lets go! Talk about the youth!!

  10. James says:

Been hard on Grier, but really like the Gawanke deal. I guess Duclair will help make offensively a bit. And both the deals sure seem to be precursors to an EK trade.
